Planning a new Kitchen

Before you start designing your new Kitchen, there are a few things that you should consider to ensure you make the most out of your new space:

  • The layout - this will be key to ensure you have a smooth flow whilst using the Kitchen

  • Storage requirements - you never have enough storage space, you will always find a use for it

  • Type of appliances - are you thinking integrated? Also think about where the appliances will be best positioned in your new layout

  • Style and colors - always request samples to take home, and look at them in the daylight

  • Your budget - set a budget and try your best to stick to it

01

Visualize the design and what you want from your Kitchen

Plan carefully

What do you like about your Kitchen, or Kitchens that you've seen?   Is there anything in particular that you especially want and would add into a new Kitchen?  How much storage do you require?   You should also think about your sink, oven and fridge placement, if you have the space and option to, try and plan them into a triangle as this will help ensure a smooth flow when it comes to using your new Kitchen.

02

Research your appliances, and check the reviews

Appliances

Have you thought about your appliances?   Are you keeping your current, or upgrading?  Will you be opting for integrated appliances?

If you are upgrading an appliance, ensure your electrics are checked by an electrician to ensure your existing sockets are suitable for your new appliance.

And always remember to check the reviews before purchasing.

03

Some companies offer a FREE kitchen design appointment to help you

Check your measurements

Measurements are key, and appointing a kitchen designer can help you with that - they can also suggest different ideas that you may not have thought about.

04

The work begins

Say Goodbye to your old Kitchen

This is an exciting time as you get prepared for the arrival of your new Kitchen.  Double check if you need to change any plumbing, or electrics - and also think about your socket placements for things like counter top appliances, gadgets etc.

05

Ticking off the boxes on your plan

Preparation is key

If you can paint your walls before your new Kitchen is fitted it will be much easier for you - as this will avoid the worry of paint dripping on your new floors/cabinets etc.   It is also a good idea for floors to be fitted before your new Kitchen is fitted so that the units sit on top - this allows easy access should you ever need to pull a unit or an appliance out.

Are you opting for a granite/quartz worktop, you may want to place your order now.

06
